Epic Water Filters sent me their "Pure" water pitcher to test. They are a small American business focused on reducing single-use plastic. Their filters are 100% made in the USA, and they have a recycling program for used filters so they do not end up in landfill. Here is my honest review after testing it out.

Design and Build

The pitcher has a clean, minimalist look with a bamboo handle. It is made from medical-grade Tritan plastic, the same BPA-free and BPS-free material used in baby products.

There is a built-in timer that tells you when to replace the filter. Each filter lasts about 150 gallons, which works out to roughly 3 to 4 months and replaces over 1,000 single-use plastic bottles.

What It Actually Filters

The more important part. According to independent lab testing, this filter removes:

  • 99% of PFAS (the "forever chemicals")
  • 98% of fluoride
  • Nearly 100% of lead
  • Many other contaminants found in tap water

This is not just about improving taste. It is about what you are not drinking.

Setup

Very straightforward:

  1. Rinse the filter cartridge for 1 minute to release trapped air
  2. Screw the filter into the reservoir and drop it into the pitcher
  3. Fill the reservoir and discard the first two rounds of filtered water to fully prime the filter

That is it.

Taste Test: Tap vs. Fridge vs. Epic

I compared three sources side by side.

Tap water: Hard, with a noticeable mineral and chemical edge.

Refrigerator filter: Much smoother than tap.

Epic filter: Very close to the refrigerator filter. Clean, smooth, refreshing.

I am not a scientist, but knowing this pitcher is removing 99.9% of contaminants gives me real peace of mind, especially when I am using the water for cooking.

Final Thoughts

If you want a well-made, American-built filtration system that looks good on your counter and actually removes the things you do not want to be drinking, this pitcher is worth it.
