Capri by Fraser China Square Singapore Review: Great Value Stay
Capri by Fraser China Square: under $200/night, central Singapore location, and a honeymoon towel display the staff set up completely unprompted. Good value.
Watch on YouTube→If you are planning a trip to Singapore and want a central, modern hotel that does not require a significant budget, the Capri by Fraser China Square is worth serious consideration. We booked it for proximity: Clarke Quay, the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands, and Maxwell Food Centre are all nearby. We paid under $200 USD per night, which for central Singapore is genuinely good value.
Check-In and Room Upgrade
We booked a standard King room. At check-in, the hotel upgraded us to a room on the 15th floor (the highest floor in the property) as a complimentary perk with no ask from us.
When we opened the blue door of room 1505, the staff had set up an elaborate towel heart display with rose petals on the bed and left a handwritten welcome note and a small gift of hand lotion. We had noted it was a honeymoon trip in the booking. Unless Vincent organized this secretly and has not told me, the hotel did this entirely on their own with no extra charge. That level of initiative is rare.
The Room
Decor: Slight Chinatown-inspired aesthetic with colorful pink chairs and unique artwork. Not a typical neutral hotel room, which we appreciated.
Tech: A wireless charger is built into the bedside table. One practical note: the room has standard USB ports only, no USB-C. Bring a multi-plug adapter if you are traveling with USB-C devices, which at this point is most devices.
The semi-kitchen: A deep sink with a filtered water tap (no need to buy bottled water throughout your stay), a large mini-fridge with a small freezer compartment, a microwave, silverware, and a Nespresso machine with complimentary TWG luxury tea. TWG is a Singaporean brand worth seeking out if you have not had it before. Having it in the room complimentary is a nice local touch.
Bathroom: Clean and functional. No bidet seat, but a handheld spray hose. The hotel provides their own branded toiletries.
Amenities: Floors 15 and 16
Spin and Play (24-hour laundry room): The concept is clever: the laundromat is called Spin and Play because while you wait for your laundry, you can use the provided PlayStation 4. One note on the pricing: $15 SGD (approximately $12 USD) for one wash and dry cycle is expensive for a laundromat. There is a cheaper option directly across the street from the hotel if cost is a concern.
Gym: Small but fully equipped: cardio machines, dumbbells, kettlebells, and a Smith machine, with a view. Air-conditioned.
Pool: Larger than expected for the property size. Good for evening relaxing. No poolside bar for food or drinks.
Locker rooms and steam room (Level 16): Both men's and women's changing rooms have lockers, showers, and a steam room. If you arrive at the hotel before your room is ready, these facilities let you shower and refresh after a long flight without waiting in your lobby with luggage. A practical feature worth knowing about.
Final Verdict
We had a great stay. The central location makes navigating Singapore straightforward. The room was exceptionally clean. The honeymoon surprise showed real hospitality effort that we did not prompt and did not expect.
At under $200 USD per night in central Singapore, the value proposition is strong. If you are visiting Singapore and prioritizing location and cleanliness without spending at the luxury hotel tier, Capri by Fraser China Square belongs on your list.
